The Beauty of Chuseok
According to legends, Chuseok originated when the king of the Silla kingdom began a month-long weaving contest between two teams. The team that made the most clothes won, and the winning team, in return for being treated by the losing team with food, drinks, and other gifts. Scholars, however, also think that Chuseok is part of Korea's history. They believe Chuseok may have originated from an ancient religious celebration of the harvest moon.
